Project Summary

The Hyde Park Kroger store was a 9-phase renovation project which entailed relocation of nearly every section of the store to align more closely to modern store layouts. Throughout the duration of construction, the store remained open to customers.

The schedule was approximately 8 months long starting in March of 2020 with substantial completion attained November 5th ahead of the holiday season, the store’s busiest time of the year. This required building temporary construction barriers encapsulated in plastic. Demolition and sawcutting of the concrete floors to relocate utilities occurred during overnight hours. Underslab plumbing was relocated and underground electric was routed to run overhead above the ceiling.

The entire store received new resilient vinyl plank flooring. Additionally, after the ceiling was raised in the produce section, Kroger elected to increase the ceiling height throughout the entire store. This change was decided in October. To accommodate Kroger on this two-phased change, phase one of increasing ceiling height was completed prior to Thanksgiving. Phase two commenced in January and was completed in March. All sprinkler lines and ductwork were raised to accommodate for ceiling height change.
